Ninja Practice ist sinnlich, peinlich, frei von Regeln, frei erfunden. Eine körperliche Praxis der Imagination, Narration und Medialität. Der Begriff Ninja bezieht sich auf einen Geisteszustand: Erwacht unser innerer Ninja, ist der Raum bereit von mystischen Bestien verzaubert zu werden. Die Regel bestimmt das Spiel, Spiele formen Regeln. Was verwirrt und brennt, ist ebenso erheiternd, eine Frage des Vertrauens, des In-der-Welt-Seins, die Sehnsucht nach filmischen Momenten, nach immerzu neuen Anfängen, Schramme als Neubeginn. Die Ninja Practice kombiniert intensive Physis, somatische Praxis und Partnerarbeit unter Einbindung von performativen Scores und Aufgaben eigener Autorschaft. Kino, Meditation, Pop, Martial Arts und Kontaktimprovisation sind Bestandteile einer Routine, die Körper und Geist darauf vorbereitet, in die Welt der Ninjas einzutreten, eine Reise ohne Kompromisse.

Credits, Vitae

Rocio Marano is Argentinian/ Spanish choreographer, dancer and videographer currently living and working in Berlin. Her artistic background extends in different artistic fields, from the graphic design to video, from dance to performance. While obtaining the diploma of graphic design in the School of Art and Superior of the Balearic Islands (2004-2008), she was part of VEDEATeatro, an Integral School of Dramatic Art and a Theater Company. She followed later an independent training in contemporary dance and performance.
In 2013, she moved to Berlin to attend Smash Intensive Experimental Physical Performance program. Since then, she has worked as an interpreter for several choreographers such as Juha Marsalo, Susanne Grau, Julian Weber, Julian Rauter, Alma Toaspern and Lea Kieffer. She also elaborates her own artistic work in Dance, Performance and Video. In 2016, she premiered Insanity Solo at the P-Bodies Performance Festival – unstable states – in Leipzig, Germany. In collaboration with Lea Kieffer, The Ninjas / Matter of Blood premiered at Tanztage Berlin in January 2016 in Sophiensaele, Berlin.
She is the director of Danza Sin Fin (2012) a documentary film, projected at the Toronto International Dance Film Festival 2015, at DocumentaQro – Documentary Festival in Querétaro, Mexico and Guatemala. She has received the Art Jove Award in the Balearic Islands for her design proposal in 2008 and 1st Prize in the Videodanza Contest at the Festival of Contact Improvisation of Freiburg, Germany in 2013. In 2014 she collaborated in the research project during four weeks called meta_media_lab lead by Marlon Barrios Solano within the Festival of Dance and Performance Impulstanz in Vienna. In Summer 2016 Rocio received the DanceWEB scholarship to participate entirely in the same festival Impulstanz under the mentorship of Tino Sehgal.

Lea Kieffer is a French, Berlin based, performer, dance/clothes maker. Her work focuses on mixing craft and performance with an interest for wilderness and improvisation, bridging physical challenges and somatic practices. She’s interested in what’s behind the shape of things. She owns a Bachelor in Sport Studies and Pedagogy (strasbourg/Fr/2004-07) and studied Dance, Improvisation and Performance in TIP Freiburg (2008-10). In 2013 she got selected for the first edition of SMASH-Berlin and she received Danceweb scholarship in 2014.
Since 2012 she collaborates with her partner in crime Rocio Marano, under the identity of Los Ninjas. Together, they created Los Ninjas/Matter of Blood-Tanztage berlin 2016) and they taught workshops in Uferstudios, Katalyst Festival Cologne, Ibiza Performance Festival 2015. She’s been working as a performer for Rose Beerman, Benjamin Pohlig, Marina Abramovic and Juha Marsalo and as outside eye and artistic companion for Angela Schubot (korper ohne macht and Brothers) and Michael Shapira (GGJG and Dry Love).
She always had a deep interest on teaching and coaching since her studies. She gave workshops on Contact Improvisation with a wild twist in Germany, France, Canada and Israel and in Paris, Israel, Freiburg, Ibiza Contact Festivals also Tanztage Potsdam Festival and Contact Meets Contemporary Gottingen Festival. She also taught the Ninja Practice in SMASH-Berlin, in Freiburg profi- trainning and through Ponderosa.
