‘What About Jumping?’ emerged from a desire to demonstrate research in its temporality and tell its story through a body and to an audience. The lecture performance grew out of a three-month research on the action of jumping within historic and contemporary dance practice.Interwoven with live text and drawings, the lecture explores bouncing, vibrating, rebounding and landing as physical jumping manifestations. Through a mixed state of fatigue and joy, I am struck with several questions: What about jumping? Where is jumping today: in dance, in bodies, in performance, in life? In a momentary release of control, the body leaves contact with the earth. What would be the affect of a vibrating audience?
